The End of Battlestar Galactica

**SPOILERS** If you haven’t watch the final episode by now I’m not sure why you are reading this…

So I’ve reached a conclusion. I am the only person who thought that last 30 minutes of Battlestar Galactica’s series finale was nearly perfect.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the space battle at the beginning because it looked really cool, it just was not as awesome as the battle over New Caprica (Galactica jumping into the atmosphere, destruction of the Pegasus). I also found it a bit hard to swallow that the ship that was falling apart at the seams was capable of ramming into a larger ship successfully; but it is science fiction so I let it slide (suspension of disbelief and all that jazz).

What ended up being the highlight for me was the conclusion for Starbuck. When Kara and Lee were talking I saw it coming, I knew she had served her purpose and her time was up, yet I was still shocked when she was just gone.

I see lots of people saying that this did not answer any of the questions surrounding her resurrection, but I thought it had been coming for a long time. Baltar’s speech a few episode prior had already established that the “head character” were angels, during which declared her to be an angel. It seems to that since this show was never hard science fiction (more about the characters less about the technology) a more supernatural explanation was alway looming in the background.

My one complaint was the soft pedaling of the character of god in this show. Merely saying god is a force of nature is a cop out, a force of nature leaves no room for personal relationships which is frankly a pretty boring concept for god.

So, like I said, I loved the ending of Battlestar Galactica, it was worth the wait.
